Versova-Bandra Sea Link: Road Deck Work Officially Begins!

The Versova-Bandra Sea Link project has reached a major construction milestone with the commencement of road deck installation following the transportation of the first batch of pre-cast concrete segments into the Arabian Sea.

Officials stated that the 17-kilometre sea link project, being executed by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), has completed nearly one-third of its civil construction work.

The sea link will connect Seven Bungalows near Versova with Bandra Reclamation and forms part of Mumbai’s broader coastal connectivity programme aimed at enabling signal-free travel from Marine Drive to Palghar. The project is using advanced pre-cast segment construction technology similar to that deployed in the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, and Mumbai Coastal Road projects.

The Versova-Bandra Sea Link will extend approximately 900 metres into the Arabian Sea and include cable-stayed bridge sections along with interchanges at Bandra, Carter Road, Juhu Koliwada, and Versova.

The project recently secured environmental and Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) clearances for design modifications and expansion works. Its estimated cost has increased by nearly 60 per cent from ₹11,332 crore to ₹18,120 crore. Construction began in 2018, and the project is targeted for completion by December 2028.
